Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants that has been used for culinary, cosmetic, and medicinal purposes for centuries. The most common used species for medicinal purposes is Hibiscus sabdariffa. Hibiscus is thought to possess various bioactive substances, including anthocyanins, flavonoids, organic acids, and phenolic compounds, and phenolic compounds that may benefit human health.
Some of the therapeutic uses of hibiscus include:
May reduce high blood pressure by its diuretic and blood thinning effects.
May help to prevent/treat anemia by providing iron and vitamin C.
May help to enhance memory and cognitive function by its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
May Relieve swelling and inflammation by its mucilaginous and emollient properties.
